New works of batik quilt tapestry (BQT) from Tunde Odunlade, incorporating his signature style that utilizes richly-textured fabrics, many of them old, many holding deep significance to the artist. The first layer is batiked fabric, sometimes many layers of diverse batiks. To this, he adds found objects and, since early in 2017, an overlay of beads.
Like the rest of Tunde’s work, many BQT are themed based on the ancient Yoruba proverbs that govern community life in one of Africa’s oldest cultures.
